The 41st Annual Hudson Firefighters’ Auction

Hudson, Quebec is a small town with a big community spirit. As the holiday season approaches, residents are preparing to celebrate with their families and friends. The holiday season is also a time for sharing with those who are less fortunate.

Heroes in action

It’s in this spirit of giving that the members of the Town of Hudson Fire Department undertake their annual Christmas Basket campaign. The firefighters generously give their time and energy to raise funds, solicit and collect donations, and buy toys and food for their Christmas baskets. They turn the firehouse into a veritable Santa’s workshop. They pack and deliver dozens of baskets to local families, all in complete anonymity. They also arrange for deliveries of heating oil and firewood, and distribute Hydro vouchers, to help ensure that everyone has a warm and happy holiday season. Not all heroes wear capes!

The auction

Every year, the real estate brokers at Royal LePage Village team up with LePont Bridging, the local food bank that services Hudson, Vaudreuil, Rigaud and St-Lazare, and the Hudson Fire Department to organize a charity auction to help raise money for the Christmas Basket Fund.

Local merchants, businesses and individuals donate the items that are auctioned off by our friends at Pridham’s Auction House. Golf packages, ski lift tickets, spa treatments, restaurant gift certificates, antiques, gift baskets, delicious food, and even the firefighters themselves are auctioned off to the highest bidder. It’s an entertaining event that kicks off the holiday season in Hudson and shows the town’s community spirit at its finest.
